Why “Psychotic”
Not metaphor. Clinical psychosis involves precisely this: the boundary between perception and projection dissolves. The patient’s own interpretive apparatus becomes the source of what it interprets. The “voices” are endogenous but experienced as external. The delusion is self-sealing—evidence against it is absorbed as evidence for it.

The internal diagnostic apparatus grows faster than the field it monitors. More sensors, more reports, more “insights”—but the underlying coordination problem remains static or worsens.

Operational Implications
There is no internal remedy. Psychotic resonance is a terminal attractor—the system that enters it cannot exit through its own mechanisms. The diagnostic cannot diagnose its own psychosis; that’s the psychosis.
The only safeguard is distributed non-coupling of diagnostic apparatus. Multiple Habitats, each with their own sensing systems, not sharing data in real-time. The red team in one Habitat doesn’t know what the red team in another found. The safety system in the AI lab is isolated from the safety system in deployment.
This prevents phase-locking of the diagnostic layer. It ensures that if one Habitat enters psychotic resonance, the others—breathing on different clocks—remain grounded in external forcing.
Structural dissonance, again—but applied to the sensors themselves.
