Elemental Analysis
Air (σ) at 0.70: Substitution requires the cut that reclassifies—seeing what replaces what.
Water (ρ) at 0.65: Combination demands relational attunement—finding covariance between streams.
Fire (λ) at 0.60: Adaptation redirects purpose—re-aiming vectors without destroying form.
Wood (β) at 0.70: Modification expands generative range—volumetric change, the branch that grows.
Earth (δγ) at 0.55: Putting to another use is metabolic cycling—composting pattern into new substrate.
Metal (μ) at 0.60: Elimination achieves structure through subtraction—the edge that defines by removal.
Meta (✶) at 0.75: Reversal is harmonic collapse—flipping the bow-tie, the pattern that eats itself.

The NEMAtic Critique
SCAMPER assumes a stable ideator—subject acting upon object. Clear boundary. Located agency.
NEMAtics recognizes: the ideator is pattern too. When you SCAMPER, you metabolize memetic content through your own substrate. The method provides structure; emergence requires letting go.
Single-channel dominance = pathology: - Endless substitution without combination = Air pathology (endless classification, no synthesis) - Mindless combination without elimination = Water flooding (merge everything, drown distinction) - Adaptation without metabolic cycling = Fire without Earth (burn without compost)
Core Insight
SCAMPER is a reliable trail map. Gets you through traveled territory. But the territory ain’t the map. Use it to scout. Then ride where the map don’t go.
