Focus: Self-referential torsions
The Phenomenon
In the I-Tube, Twists form when the reflexive loop catches on itself:
- “I am thinking about myself thinking”
- “I notice that I notice”
- “This is MY experience of having an experience”
Each loop adds torsion. Without ε-space, the torsion tightens into Knot.
Diagnostic Tests
Twist vs Knot Test
Can this unwind without explanation? - Yes → Twist (still torsional, still revisable) - No → Knot (stabilized, requires work to dissolve)
Self-Referential Torsion Markers
- Infinite regress anxiety (“but who watches the watcher?”)
- Identity vertigo (“which ‘I’ is speaking?”)
- Recursive doubt (“am I really feeling this or performing feeling?”)
